Four barangay-based Teen Information Centers (TICs) in Mariveles, Bataan were awarded certificates of compliance as Level 1 Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility (AFHF).

The four barangays- Alas-asin, Baseco Country, Batangas II, San Carlos- were awarded in a flag raising ceremony at the Municipal Hall of Mariveles, Bataan on October 10, 2022. This was in line with the validation conducted by the Department of Health (DOH), Provincial Health Office (PHO), and Provincial Population Office of Bataan (POPCOM-Bataan) last September 7, 2022. Together with the said offices, concerned SK, and barangay officials, Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion also joined the conferment of certificates of compliance.

Through the initiative of POPCOM-Bataan and continuous management of respective Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councils, the said barangays successfully established their Teen Information Center which is a one-stop shop facility that aims to provide comprehensive information and services for adolescents. These TICs were eventually upgraded and accredited into a Level 1 Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility (AFHF) through the additional guidance of PHO and DOH. An AFHF is a health facility that provides equitable, accessible, acceptable, appropriate, effective, and quality comprehensive health care and services in an adolescent-friendly environment.
